Designer Spotlight - Jennifer Kinnear

As a child Jennifer loved to collect, hoard and make beautiful things. She was also very adventurous, which soon led to a love of travel. During trips to New York and Switzerland Jennifer encountered some of the world’s finest gold and silver jewellery, and in Mexico and California she discovered a bounty of amazing gems and stones.

Jennifer studied silver-smithing in NCAD (National College of Art & design) as an evening student in 2002, and after this learning through the trade I designed my first collections of Irish handmade jewellery

She is as passionate about sailing and kite surfing as she is about jewellery. Jennifer is now based in one of Europe’s kite surf hot spots, Tarifa in southern Spain. Although she is mostly based in Spain, all metal casting and finishing are done in Ireland. All the pieces are hallmarked in the Dublin assay office.

Tarifa and Dublin’s coast lines are the spots that now offer her  the most inspiration. Tarifa with its turquoise water, stunning beaches and beautiful light of the ‘Costa de la Luz’ (the coast of light) and Ireland with its wild and rugged terrain.
