The Collective Dublin - Sustainability Statement
Statement from Madeleine Blaine, Founder and Managing Director
At The Collective, we are committed to making sustainability a core part of our business and ethos. As a jewellery store based in Dublin, we recognize our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact and contribute positively to our community and the planet.
The Collective Jewellery brand
We are not only committed to sustainability but also excel in using innovative technologies. By producing our jewellery in small batches, we significantly reduce waste, ensuring that each piece is crafted with the utmost care and precision. This method allows us to minimise our environmental footprint.
Additionally, we embrace cutting-edge technologies such as CAD. These advancements enable us to create intricate and modern pieces while maintaining our dedication to sustainability. By integrating new technologies with traditional craftsmanship, we ensure that every piece is both exquisitely detailed and environmentally responsible.
Everything is designed in- house, and all pieces are made either above our shop, or within 50km of our shop.
All of the silver and gold used in our own brand is 100% recyclable, and all gemstones we use are ethically sourced.
We use mainly Lab-Grown Diamonds, unless an earth mined diamond is requested.
Lab grown diamonds are identical to earth mined diamonds in every way, except that they are grown in a lab. They have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds and exhibit the same fire and sparkle.
They are an affordable and sustainable alternative to mined diamonds. They are eco-friendly and 100% conflict-free gemstones created in state-of-the-art laboratories that leave a smaller carbon footprint on the planet.
All of our earth mined diamonds which are bought, follow the Kimberly Process, ensuring they are conflict-free diamonds.
Locally Sourced Goods
Whenever possible, we prioritise sourcing locally produced goods for our business. By doing so, we not only support local artisans and businesses but also significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
At the time of writing, 18 of our jewellery brands are Irish designed and made, and many more are European.
Ethically Made Goods
All of our designer/makers are small and independent, and create their jewellery in an ethical environment. Ensuring that you can feel good about your purchase.
Environmentally Friendly Practices
We actively engage in discussions with our suppliers to encourage and implement more environmentally friendly practices. This collaborative approach allows us to explore and adopt sustainable solutions throughout our supply chain, from materials selection to packaging and delivery. Our goal is to minimise waste and promote the use of eco-friendly materials in every aspect of our business.
Packaging
We use FSO 100% recyclable materials for all of our packaging products, from all boxes to bags and ensure where possible, no unwanted packaging is given to the customer.
Continuous Improvement
Our journey towards sustainability is ongoing. We continuously seek to improve our practices through consultation with our partners, staff, and customers. By fostering an open dialogue, we gain valuable insights and innovative ideas that drive our sustainability efforts forward. We are committed to transparency and accountability, regularly reviewing and refining our strategies to ensure we are making meaningful progress.
Community and Customer Engagement
We believe that sustainability is a collective effort. We actively engage with our community and customers to raise awareness about sustainable practices in the jewellery industry. Through educational initiatives and partnerships, we aim to inspire and empower others to join us in our commitment to sustainability.
At The Collective, we are dedicated to creating beautiful jewellery that not only reflects our customers' unique styles but also embodies our shared values of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future for our community and the world.
Thank you for supporting The Collective and our journey towards a more sustainable future.
