What is wax carving?

Wax carving is a jewellery-making technique in which you shape a design from a piece of wax before it is cast in metal.

With your kit and tutorial, our tutor will guide you through carving, filing and adding texture to your wax. Its smooth, soft feel makes it lovely to work with and gives you the freedom to create sculptural, organic shapes.

Once you’re happy with your design, it’s ready to be cast!

How does it work?

  1. Casting
    Step 1

    Casting

    Return your wax carving to us and we will take your carving to professional casters who take a mould of your design. They then pour the silver into your mould to create your piece of Jewellery. (You can also opt for solid yellow, white or rose gold for an additional price.)
  2. The Finishing Touches
    Step 2

    The Finishing Touches

    Once your piece is ready, we will collect it from the Casters and one of our Industry Experts will polish your ring and clean it up so that it’s ready for you to wear! Once it's complete, it will be delivered by registered post to your chosen address!
  3. Extra Wax Piece
    Step 3

    Extra Wax Piece

    You also have the option of adding an extra piece of wax for practising with our options above.

Please note once returned to us the casting and polishing will take 3 to 4 weeks.
