Ring Sizing
How Do I Know What My Ring Size Is?
Finding the right ring size is essential for comfort and security. Whether you're buying a new ring for yourself or as a gift, here are several methods to determine your ring size accurately.
1. Using a Ring Sizer
A ring sizer is a tool specifically designed to measure ring sizes. You can purchase a ring sizer online here for just €5 inc postage or else pop into our store at to get it done for free! Alternatively, if you are not in Ireland you can download an app on your phone and measure your finger. For IOS visit here or for Android visit here
- 2. Using a Ring Size Chart
A ring size chart provides measurements that correspond to ring sizes. You can find these charts online or at jewellery stores. Here’s how to use one:
- Print a Ring Size Chart: Make sure the chart is printed to scale by checking the provided measurement scale against a ruler.
- Measure a Ring You Already Own: Place your ring on the circles on the chart until you find one that matches the inner diameter of your ring.
- Read the Size: The corresponding number or letter is your ring size.
3. Using a String or Paper Strip
If you don’t have a ring sizer, you can use a piece of string or a strip of paper to measure your finger:
- Cut a Strip of Paper or String: The strip should be about 6 inches long and 1/4 inch wide.
- Wrap Around Your Finger: Wrap the paper or string around the base of your finger where you want to wear the ring. Make sure it’s snug but not too tight.
- Mark the Overlap: Use a pen to mark where the paper or string overlaps.
- Measure the Length: Lay the paper or string flat and measure the length up to the mark using a ruler.
- Compare to a Ring Size Chart: Use a ring size chart to find the corresponding ring size for your measurement.

Tips for Accurate Measurement
- Measure at the End of the Day: Fingers can swell throughout the day, so measure your finger at the end of the day when it’s at its largest.
- Consider Temperature: Cold weather can cause your fingers to shrink, while heat can cause them to swell. Measure your finger at a normal room temperature for the most accurate size.
- Account for Knuckles: If your knuckle is much larger than the base of your finger, measure both the knuckle and the base, then choose a size in between.
- Fit for Comfort: Your ring should fit snugly enough that it won’t fall off but loose enough to slide over your knuckle without too much resistance.
By using these methods and tips, you can determine your ring size accurately and ensure a comfortable and secure fit for your rings.
